DESCRIPTION: Employees usually quit their leaders, not their work. This normally happens when they either feel that they are not meeting standards or they feel that their skills are not fit for their tasks. Regardless of the reason, it costs a lot to train new people. However, knowing how to coach for success can help minimize attrition, maximize productivity, and stomp out learned helplessness. This means a more engaged, proactive, and independent workforce. When leaders coach properly, they help employees reach their potential while maintaining a positive working environment. Coaching is also a tool that leaders can use so that people can learn new skills on their own and become more independent.

In this workshop, we shall explore how to achieve all these. We will attempt to understand the true meaning of coaching and break a few notions about it, too. We examine the factors that affect performance. Then we will identify how to use this knowledge to drive the performance of our employees. To make it more motivating, we will help the participants incorporate the concepts of life coaching into workplace scenarios.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, the participants should be able to:

  1. Define coaching and how it can be a unique approach to developing people
  2. Break some of the misconceptions about coaching
  3. Identify some of the challenges in workplace coaching
  4. Enumerate some pre-requisites for building a healthy coaching environment
  5. Document a SMART Goal
  6. Discuss, Listen to, and Practice the GROW Model for Coaching

METHODOLOGY:

The session shall be an activity-intensive session, facilitated through Zoom. There will be fun games, group activities, brainstorming sessions, rapid-fire sessions, and multimedia listening. Toward the end of the session, there will also be a role-playing activity where participants shall apply what they have learned about coaching. The facilitator will greatly make use of his/her experiences to synthesize the activities and provide appropriate feedback.
