SUMMARY:5S Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Click here to REGISTER \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: 5S is workplace management where the work area and workplace are organized and ritualized to minimize the loss of time and the use of movement; its principles for eliminating wasted time and unnecessary motion are universally applicable to everyone and every business. \nThis 5S learning session is massively effective in teaching 5S because Trainees learn what 5S is really about. 5S has only a little to do with creating a clean and tidy work area where everything is neat\, nearby\, and easy and fast to get to. That is indeed what you see when you go to a great 5S work-managed operation\, but that is not what 5S is for. \nSo we do not teach learning session attendees that 5S is only about workplace management and cleanliness; rather we teach them that through their personal workplace practices\, they set themselves up to do great work. They will help build a world-class operation whose products or services will attract new customers. If they use 5S well they will be creating work security for themselves and building a safer\, happier work environment where people make a top-quality product every time. 5S is not about being clean\, tidy\, and neat; it is about doing excellent quality work all the time. \nBenefits of 5S for the individual: \n\nmakes my workplace more pleasant\nmakes me more efficient\nimproves my safety\nimproves the quality of my work and my service\nimproves my pride and morale\n\nBenefits of 5S for the Organization: \n\nimproves quality/productivity\nreduces cost\nmakes reporting on time\nimproves morale\n\nLearning Objectives: Upon completion of the session\, participants will be able to understand and immediately apply the following 5S concepts in their own workplace: \n\n5S – Sort – The first pillar of 5S helps to clearly distinguish the items needed in a work area from those no longer needed. Red tagging is the activity that eliminates these unneeded items.\n5S – Set In Order – The second pillar of 5S helps to keep the needed items in the correct place to allow for easy and immediate retrieval.\n5S – Shine – The third pillar of 5S helps to keep work areas\, all work surfaces\, and equipment clean and free from dirt\, debris\, etc.\n5S – Standardize – The fourth pillar of 5S defines the standard activities\, procedures\, schedules\, and the persons responsible for helping keep the workplace clean and organized.\n5S – Sustain – The last pillar of 5S drives the organization to be disciplined in maintaining these new standards and procedures and in continuously improving the 5S state of the workplace.\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone in the workplace who is interested in quality application of basic good housekeeping.  There is no pre-requisite for this course. \nTOPICS: \nSession 1: 5S Overview \n\n5S Basic Concepts and Theories\n5S Rationale\n5S Application and suggested Practices\n\nSession 2: 5S and Filing Management \n\nFiling and Basic Principles\nApproaches for Effective Filing\nFiling Challenges\, Rewards and Benefits\n\nSession 3: Shaping up the 5S Process \n\nCustomizing 5S Criteria\nManaging 5S Audit\nReporting and Follow Through\n\nSession 4: Championing the 5S Process \n\nChallenges and Bottlenecks\nFramework for Success\nBest Practices and Winning Strategies\n\nApproach & Duration: \nAs the trainer comes with more than thirty years of real-life corporate experience\, the methodology will involve the following: \n\nIndividual Assessments\nUse of participant manual/worksheets\nUse of a combination of presentation and group activities\nStorytelling of real-life situations\nInteractive group discussions\nChallenging the thinking of participants\nProviding input to participants’ real-life situations\n\nCase Studies- Several short case studies will be pre-circulated for participants to read and undertake some directed initial analysis.  These will be used to illustrate data analysis techniques and as a basis for group discussions. \n \nRegistration Instructions:  \n1. So what does this challenge require? This requires leaders who are able to adapt and lead people toward the new normal. Learning how to lead becomes more important. While we can still rely on some time-tested principles\, we will also introduce some mindsets that may be unique to the need to the current time.  \nIn this module\, we will explore principles that can help us navigate this journey. We will attempt to understand how to influence people\, coach them\, and develop their skills. We will also identify their differences in communication styles and know how to respond as a leader. We will explore how coaching can empower people and help them feel a sense of accountability in what they do especially at times when we work from home or could not always directly see our employees. The approach shall be loosely based on some concepts from the “7 Habit of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey\, but we shall have it tailored to the Filipino experience. We will also have a discussions about communicating change. \nOBJECTIVES: \n\nTo discuss the definition of leadership and supervision\nTo identify the role of a leader.\nTo discuss pro-activeness and why a leader should have it.\nTo discuss the changes it requires to step up and become a leader.\nIdentify the different communication styles.\nEnumerate the key steps in coaching an individual.\nDiscuss Change and Your Role as a Leader\n\nMETHODOLOGY: This course is an instructor-led session that shall be facilitated through Zoom. SUMMARY:Arc Flash Hazzard Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Click here to REGISTER \nYearly\, more than 3\,000 disabling injuries resulting from preventable  electrical accidents in the workplace happen. Are you aware that ten to thirty times more accidents  result from electrical hazards compared to any other accidents happening in the workplaces? \nWhat can an electrical engineer do to ensure safety in the workplace? A critical issue that must be put into top consideration in every work place is Electrical safety. Aside from losses in time\, electrical accidents that result in damaged equipment increases your insurance premiums depleting your resource and revenue. Litigation and court hearings resulting from mishaps related to electrical accidents can also add up to your long list of expenses. Three of the top 10 OSHA violations gears toward more awareness into Electrical Safety. Arc Flash is one of the most common issues. An arc flash hazard program is implemented as part of the electrical safety program\, which is part of the overall safety program of the company. \nArc Flash\, also knows as flashover\,  is defined by Wikipedia as part of an arc fault\, a type of electrical explosion that results from a low-impedance connection to ground or another voltage phase in an electrical system. Arc Blast\, on the other hand is an bigger form of arc flash creating sounds of up to 160 dB and debris as well as molten metal can be thrown up to 700 miles away. Arc flash can usually happen through some form of interaction — Whether human or mechanical interaction — during regular operations and maintenance. Poor maintenance of equipment debris can also result to an Arc Flash. Analyzing Arc Flash Hazards is important because it is part of risk management measures\, it is required for safety\, and it is imposed by laws. This course guides electrical Engineers into understanding the minimum requirements in Arc Flash management and best practices. \n Objectives:\nAt the end of the program\, the participants will be able to: \n\nEnumerate the fundamental\, principles of load flow analysis\, short circuit analysis and protection coordination in relation to arc flash analysis\nDetermine arc flash hazard categories in relation to actual practices.\nReview theories\, formulas and techniques for power system analysis in relation to short circuit\, coordination and arc flash hazard\nCreate and understand Arc Flash Hazard and its application.\nUnderstand the use of protective device to mitigate arc flash hazard.\nMaximize the use of protective devices: use of instantaneous function/ trip\nGenerate an Arc Flash hazard analysis using software (Paladin DesignBase formerly EDSA)\n\nWho should attend:\n\nDesign Engineers\nSafety Engineers / Electrical Engineers\nFacility Engineers\nProject and/or Construction Engineer\nMaintenance Engineer\nPEE\, REE or graduate of Electrical Engineering\n\nEntry of Competencies of Participants: \n\nElectrical engineers\, and electricians performing electrical system design\, audit\, installation\, testing and maintenance\n\nCourse objective/Learning outcome \nThe course aims to provide people the knowledge and understanding of the existence\, nature\, causes and methods to prevent electrical hazards. The training also includes the selection of appropriate PPE through the use of IEEE Std. 1584 – 2018. \n\nFamiliarization about the common cause of Arc Flash\nDetermine the proper PPE to be used to mitigate the arc flash\nDetermine the arc flash rating and arc flash label using IEEE Std. 1584 – 2018\n\n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nRegistration Instructions:  \n1.
